Melt-in-the Mouth Cookies

Sift together in bowl and reserve:
3/4 cup unsifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix together with electric mixer or wooden spoon until light and fluffy:
1/2 cup soft butter or margarine
1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Beat in flour mixture with mixer or spoon, blending until smooth. Stir in 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts. Drop by measuring-teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake in preheated oven 400° for about 5 minutes, or until browned. Cool for 1/2 minute. Remove carefully to wire racks. Makes about 6 to 7 dozen.
